Purple Pansy: Easy Spring/Summer Purple-and-Yellow-Gold Eye shadow Look

According to Color Theory, yellow and purple are the 2 shades that lie right smack-dab between blue (cool) and red (warm), so technically, they are the 2 “true neutrals”.

They are also diametrically opposite each other in the Color Wheel, so wearing them together is a quick way to get contrast without a lot of work.

Good for:

  • Any eye shape
  • Any eye color

You will need:

  1. A brown cream shadow base or gel liner (I used Maybelline Gel Liner as usual)
  2. A yellow eye pencil (NYX Yellow pencil)
  3. A bright yellow gold shadow (I used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Golden Buttercup)
  4. A rich medium-toned purple (I used an old purple pigment from a Japanese drugstore brand called Michiko London; I don’t think the company is still around). You can choose any rich purple you have, or something similar to MAC Parfait Amour or Satellite Dreams.
  5. Black mascara or false lashes

It’s a basic smoky lid without any shadow on the lower lash line, amd you can do it even if you have mono-lids or hooded eyes, as long as you bring the color up to your socket line so that it’s visible when your eyes are open.

[Requested] Hothouse Flower: Dramatic Tropical Floral Colors for a Dance Recital (inspired by Make Up Store)

I was thinking about 2 separate requests; one for a “Hawaiian-inspired” look and one for an orchid color with a bright highlight. Both were for dance recitals, which require strong makeup that will show up and can convey expression under harsh lights.

Then I walked by Make Up Store and saw their Blossom campaign, which featured dramatic contrasting colors of navy yellow, and a peony pink, and thought “ah-ha!”

I decided to do a cut-crease look with the same color scheme. Cut-crease looks place a strong defined line along the socket and a contrasting lighter/brighter shade on the lid so you emphasize every blink and expression (which is why it is so popular for stage performers).

My Paperself Lash Collection (Tips for Care and Wear)

I have 4 pairs of Paperself lashes in my collection, 1 of which I bought at retail price from Sephora (in Singapore) and 3 of which I bought from a discount beauty store quite recently.
